Speaking of great Youtube documentaries from (nearly) a decade ago, the algorithm recently resurfaced “The Fallen of World War II” to me and so I re-watched it. It’s such a masterclass in using data visualisation to tell a powerful story, the audio is so well done too.

It’s one of the most powerful pieces of media about war that I’ve ever seen.

I remember when I first watched it I found the final part to be quite hopeful. Sitting here today the world feels very different and that last section takes on an entirely different feel, like I’m looking back at a predicted future that never came to pass.
